Jim and Rosemary Blair have lived and farmed 226 acres in the Berkeley vale for many years. Located only half a mile from the nearest motorway link, we are approximately 15 miles from Bristol and 20 miles from Gloucester; directions are below.
It was decided early on that we would rear only home produced cattle and so for 15 years we have managed a suckler herd of 60 cows running with a pedigree Aberdeen Angus bull.
The matriarch of the herd is Snowy, now a staid 15 year old who has just produced her thirteenth calf. She was born on the farm and can always be relied upon to teach the younger members of the herd their manners. Snowy has a home here for life which we hope will be for some time yet.
After achieving full organic status and putting the whole farm down to grass we decided to participate in the Organic Entry Level Stewardship scheme which further benefits certain aspects of the countryside. We are confident that this will achieve even greater environmental results and over the years this type of farming has given us a great deal of satisfaction.
