Whitfield Farm and its 226 acres of prime Gloucestershire land has been farmed by Jim and Rosemary Blair for over 40 years and we have had full organic status for the last 10, running a suckler herd of 170 Aberdeen Angus X cattle on permanent pasture. We use no concentrates and the herd is fed entirely on grass, given as silage or hay during the winter months.

Nothing has been brought onto the Farm , apart from straw which is used as bedding and eventually compost. This is something we are immensely proud of. We have managed a natural way of farming that is uncomplicated and rotational using clover and compost as nutrition. We are in effect using a perma-culture style of farming which attracts bees, birds and natural food chain systems whilst also enabling us to maintain an agricultural business in carbon friendly way.

PICT000303We chose Aberdeen Angus for practical reasons; they are hardy and produce excellent, evenly marbled meat. We are currently running at 170 livestock and as the Bull runs with them, they range from newborn to matriarchs.

Every part of the finishing process for each animal is done locally, from slaughter right through to the final product, which means that individual requirements from customers can be met, and every joint can be traced back to the original animal.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions on 01454 261010 or email us on jfblair@whitfieldfarmorganics.co.uk. To find us simply leave the M5 at junction 14 and take the A38 towards Thornbury for approximately one mile. We are on the left hand side at the top of the hill and are sign posted.
