Welcome to

Why do we feed only grass? Our main reasons are taste and health. We have found a great deal of evidence to suggest that to feed livestock grass is better for the environment and is significantly better for us, the consumer. A great deal of Doctors maintain that a diet of purely grass fed meat and dairy products is less stressful on the digestive system than alternative meat products.

The taste of grass fed meat is indeed richer, deeper and more traditional. This is due to an omega-3 fatty acid found in the grass and also because the animal is allowed to fatten and to mature slower which is the more old-fashioned method when animal concentrates were not readily available.

As soon as an animal is taken off grass and fed grains or concentrates, the meat loses its valuable store of omega-3 and the healthy fats in the meat disappear. For instance did you know that purely grass fed beef actually has the same fat content as skinless chicken! As an added bonus, the meat also tastes purer and has so much more flavour. We believe that meat is not just meat but that the way an animal is fed can make a huge difference to the health benefits of the food…..but don’t just take our word for it, try some and then you can, of course, make your own mind up!

“The difference between grain/concentrate fed animals and purely grass fed animals is dramatic”

“Grass-fed beef contains just a quarter of the fat of grain-fed beef. Cattle grazing pastures incorporate up to ten times more beta-carotene and up to five times more vitamin E into their muscle tissues than grain-fed animals. Beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the liver, and vitamin E are fat soluble vitamins. Both are essential nutrients vital for health. It has been long known that fat-soluble vitamins protect against heart disease, cancer and infections. Pasture (feeding) also boosts the level of health-protecting fats, particularly those known as omega-3’s. These vital fats play a key role in human metabolism. New research shows that the elimination of pasture-fed meat and milk from our diets may have been a factor in the rise of most degenerative diseases, including cancer, obesity Type-2 diabetes, heart disease, autism, depression, schizophrenia and Alzheimer's…It’s the feeding of grain to animals that’s damaging the planet, not the production of healthy foods on traditional pastoral systems.”

“The animals grow at a natural pace. For these reasons and more, grass-fed animals live low-stress lives (and produce meat with) less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and a number of health-promoting fats, including omega-3 fatty acids.

Another benefit of omega-3's is that they may reduce your risk of cancer. In animal studies, these essential fats have slowed the growth of a wide array of cancers and also kept them from spreading.”

“Farmers feed their livestock with grain because it provides fast gains. Grain has been available because the fertilizers and pesticides required to grow grain have been available in abundant amount. This development coincided with the end of World War II when a new market needed to be found for the chemicals that had been used in the manufacture of bombs.”
